As a leading family-owned business in the UK’s landscaping and gardening materials sector, Concrete Fabrications Ltd has a rich history of growth and innovation.

In 1963 Paul Elston joined Concrete Fabrications Ltd as an engineering apprentice after leaving school at 15. He progressed his way through the company, making a Director by the late eighties and completed a management buyout in 2001 (from parent company Welding Industries), making Paul the sole owner of Concrete Fabrications Ltd. Ownership then passed to Paul’s two children in 2010 with another management buyout, and Ian and Julia continue to run the company today with support from their spouses and management team with Paul and wife Sandra still active in the business.

The ‘Bowland Stone’ brand was born in the early nineties, with Paul being instrumental in its establishment alongside two other independent concrete manufacturers who all recognised the market’s need for a unified concrete paving range with a national identity. Originally based in Hull, Macclesfield and Bristol, the three companies were all able to manufacture Bowland Stone paving while at the same time remaining independent.

Since purchasing the Macclesfield business in 2012 and integrating this into the Bristol operation, Concrete Fabrications Ltd and the Bowland Stone brand is now wholly family owned and operated, only strengthening their commitment to deliver high quality products at a competitive price.
